Masked Individual Attempts to Take Man's Life in Tsaghkadzor

According to the newspaper "Hraparak," a criminal incident occurred recently in Tsaghkadzor, which has not been reported by media outlets as it has not made it onto the police website. On September 25, a security camera at the home of a resident captured a masked individual attempting to end a man’s life with gunfire. The video, which has come into our possession, is also with law enforcement authorities.

We learned that the victim's life was successfully saved. Furthermore, we managed to identify the victim. He is Vardan Arakelyan, a resident of Tsaghkadzor, whose home surveillance camera recorded the assassination attempt against him. "Vardan is a respected and authoritative guy in Tsaghkadzor. He can distinguish between right and wrong, but it remains unclear to all of us why someone would resort to such drastic measures against him," said one of his acquaintances in a conversation with us.

Notably, following this incident, our sources indicate that David Yazinchyan, the head of the Tsaghkadzor police department, submitted his resignation. He had only been appointed to this position a few months prior. Just days later, Vaghik Avetisyan, the head of the Hrazdan police department, was also dismissed. While Avetisyan’s dismissal was justified with his decision to retire after many years of service, Yazinchyan’s case is different as he is still quite young to retire.

Nonetheless, rumors are circulating in Tsaghkadzor and Hrazdan that the resignations of these two police chiefs are directly related to this assassination attempt. Both were reportedly sought to be removed as undesirable personnel due to the failure to solve this serious crime in a timely manner.

A criminal case has been initiated, and the crime remains unsolved. To find out whether the case is included in the summaries of police operational reports and why no information has been posted on the police website, we contacted the police public relations department. "A report has been filed regarding the incident, and a criminal case was initiated on the same day, currently in the preliminary investigation phase. It has not been posted on the police website as we mainly publish information about solved cases, but it is not excluded that this case will be posted once it is solved," responded an employee from the public relations department.

When we followed up with another question regarding whether the police chiefs' dismissals were related to the mentioned case, the response was: "The head of the Tsaghkadzor police department was dismissed based on his report, and the Hrazdan police chief has retired." More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
