How the 'Erebuni-Yerevan' Celebrations Will Be Held

This year, the 'Erebuni-Yerevan' celebrations will take place equally across all 12 administrative districts. The technical setup in all districts will be the same.

This was announced by Yerevan Deputy Mayor Tigran Virabyan during a press conference held on October 10.

Virabyan stated that almost the same financial resources have been allocated for all districts, with the aim of decentralization.

“When determining the technical conditions for the event, we had a clear condition: the festive activities in the outskirts should not lag behind those in the center in any way. We have abandoned the idea of holding all events on a single stage in Republic Square, as concentrating everything in one place deprives the entire city of the opportunity to have equally high-quality events in all administrative districts,” said Tigran Virabyan.

In the Avan administrative district, children's music will be played, in Arabkir classical music, in Davitashen jazz music, in Erebuni there will be a platform for folk music, in Malatia-Sebastia pop music, in Nork-Marash ethnographic music, in Nor Nork electronic music, in Shengavit there will be an original songs platform, in Kanaker-Zeytun retro music, and residents of Nubarashen will have the opportunity to listen to rock. Pop music will be featured in the Center administrative district.

According to Virabyan, this year, the events in the Center district will be focused not in Republic or Freedom Squares, but on Saryan Street.

The official event, as previously mentioned, will also take place at the National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. The Armenian State Symphony Orchestra will also perform.

This year, 18 companies applied to organize the celebrations; several of them were selected as winners.

According to the deputy mayor, when events are only held in the center, only one company deals with organizational issues, only a few artists perform, and residents miss out on cultural diversity.

Virabyan noted that for the first time in the last 10 years, there is more than one participating company in organizing the 'Erebuni-Yerevan' celebrations. “We are now in the process of signing contracts, and in a day or two, the paperwork will be finalized,” he added.

The concert events in all administrative districts will start at 13:00. A simultaneous fireworks display will also be held at 22:00.
