Insults and Hate Speech Have Reached Dangerous Levels: Arman Tatoyan
Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan writes on his Facebook page: “The references to violence, threats of violence, or even the possibility of violence in political discourse are as absolutely unacceptable as in any other domain. Violence or threats of violence are fundamentally impermissible, regardless of when and by whom they are made or to whom they are directed. These undermine the human rights system in the country and disrupt harmony in society.
Already, insults and hate speech have reached dangerous levels. We all must contribute to harmony through our own example, and public figures, including those in politics and society, should avoid any formulations in their public discourse that can be construed as violence, threats of violence, or even the possibility of violence, which could create tension.”
