Why the Director of the Oncology Center Broke a Doctor's Nose: Couldn’t They Share the Money?
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that Narek Manukyan, the acting director of the V. Fanarjyan Oncology Center, broke the nose of a doctor named Vahagn Hambardzumyan during a scuffle in his office yesterday.
The initial theory suggests that the altercation arose after the doctor's father was dismissed by the acting director. The doctor entered the director's office for clarification, which escalated into an argument, leading the ‘boxing’ director to break the doctor's nose. According to information received by "Zhoghovurd," the doctor underwent surgery yesterday.
Interestingly, the director's action of breaking the nose was essentially justified by the Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan, stating, “The illegal extortion of money by healthcare workers is unacceptable and will always elicit such a strong response... He had illegally taken 400,000 dram from the patient's relatives and returned it after the complaint.”
However, reports circulating in the hospital suggested that the director, affiliated with the minister, was unable to share the money with the dismissed employee, which was the reason for the termination. According to another theory, the father of the injured had repeatedly defended the former director, leading the new acting director to harbor resentment.
Which version is true will be revealed by the investigation, but it is a fact that several directors appointed by Minister Torosyan are demanding illegal payments from their staff. However, not all cases end with broken noses. More on this to come in the future.
