Young Man Stabs 24-Year-Old Resident, Serious Injuries Reported: Investigation Begins
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has confirmed details surrounding the serious bodily injury of a 24-year-old resident of Yerevan through a criminal case being examined by the Shengavit administrative district investigation department.
A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident.
On September 30, 2019, at approximately 00:50, the Shengavit Medical Center reported to the police that a young man had been admitted with a "stab wound to the right side of the chest.” The injured individual, born in 1995, claimed that he sustained the wound after falling in Komitas Park.
Following this, he was transferred to Astghik Medical Center, where it was confirmed that he had suffered a penetrating injury to the left side of his chest.
A criminal case was initiated by the Shengavit investigation department under part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The head of the investigation department has assigned the investigative team to carry out the preliminary investigation.
During the investigation, several individuals have been questioned, crime scene examinations were conducted, and forensic and trace examinations were appointed. The 24-year-old has been recognized as the victim.
As a result of the investigative actions, numerous details regarding the incident and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, a resident of Yerevan born in 1997, have been established.
It was revealed that around 00:10 on September 30, 2019, a dispute emerged between these two Yerevan residents over financial matters in a park located between Buzand and Aram Streets. During the altercation, the 22-year-old, with premeditated intent to harm, stabbed the 24-year-old once in the back of the left side of his chest, causing life-threatening injuries.
Based on sufficient evidence gathered, the 22-year-old has been charged under part 1 of Article 112 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. He has been taken into custody as a measure of restraint.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
