Levon Yeranosyan's Trial Postponed Again
The trial concerning former Deputy Police Chief Levon Yeranosyan has resumed today at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan under the chairmanship of Harutyun Manukyan. It is worth noting that the hearings have not taken place for nearly three months.
The judge informed that defense attorney Tigran Safaryan did not attend the session, making it impossible to continue the trial under the circumstances. The hearing lasted only a few minutes.
According to the charges, Levon Yeranosyan used eight flashbang grenades of the 'Zarya' type during the mass protests on April 16 and April 22, 2018. As a result of the former deputy police chief's actions, more than two dozen protesters were injured. A measure of restraint in the form of a signature not to leave has been selected for Yeranosyan.
Among the victims is also the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan. He rejects the charges against him and states that the actions of the police made it possible to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
