Armed Attack in Gegharkunik: 25-Year-Old Girl Disarms Assailants

On October 2, an armed robbery occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Around 16:50, police received a report from the ‘Gavar’ medical center stating that a citizen had been brought in with injuries described as 'closed cranio-cerebral trauma, concussion, closed blunt trauma to the abdomen, scratches on both upper limbs of the neck, and scratches on the left leg.'

According to Shamshyan.com, the injured party was identified as 25-year-old Emma H., a resident of Gavar.

Investigation revealed that on the same day, between 14:00 and 15:00, two unknown men, aged between 30 and 40, approached Emma H. at her home on Buniatyan Street, asking if the nearby land was for sale. During this encounter, one of the men brandished a pistol, hurled insults, and threatened Emma, claiming they knew the location of a safe at her house, before attempting to assault her.

Emma managed to fight back, seizing the pistol from the assailant and striking him on the head, causing him to lose his balance and fall. Witnessing this, the accomplice approached Emma, resulting in a struggle. Meanwhile, another man entered Emma's home and took away his fallen accomplice.

After the scuffle ended, Emma returned to her house, while the man with whom she was fighting chased her and attempted to hit her with a flowerpot placed near her home. However, the flowerpot struck an icon hanging on the wall, after which the intruders fled the scene.

Emma informed police and investigators that nothing was stolen from her residence due to her intervention in thwarting the robbery.

Authorities in the Gegharkunik region are conducting necessary operational-investigative and joint inquiry actions to clarify the circumstances of the case and apprehend the suspects.
