Tensions Rise Near Ararat Regional Administration as Citizens Detained
Residents of the Norashen community in Ararat province are staging a protest outside the regional administration, chanting "Governor, step down" and "The village is ours" in response to Governor Garik Sargsyan's decision to suspend the authority of community leader Norayr Grigoryan. Sargsyan met with the former village head and a group of Norashen residents yesterday, informing them that he would not change his decision.
During the protest, tensions escalated, leading to the police detaining several citizens, including Artak Harutyunyan, who has been appointed as the acting community leader of Norashen. It is also noteworthy that there are citizens present near the regional administration who support Sargsyan's decision. One of them recently claimed that not all participants in the protest are from Norashen and argued that there are provocateurs and individuals guided by known forces among those protesting.
