Manvel Grigoryan's Current Status is Very Concerning Personally for Me, Tonoyan
The Minister of Defense of Armenia, David Tonoyan, spoke with reporters today regarding the incident that occurred in the Vayots Dzor region and the resignation of the regional governor’s powers, labeling it incorrect to provide an assessment at this stage of the investigation.
“However, we will remain persistent in ensuring that everything is clarified until the end, and justice and integrity must be secured during both the trial and the investigation phases. We have been following this closely, as he is our colleague, and our comrade’s condition outside of combat situations must be accounted for,” he stated.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago, an incident occurred in Yeghegnadzor, during which a deputy colonel of the Ministry of Defense sustained serious bodily injuries while being in uniform at the time of the incident. He is currently in a critically severe condition and is in a coma. Harutyun Grigoryan, an assistant to the governor of Vayots Dzor, has been arrested on suspicion related to the incident. The governor, Tigran Sargsyan, who was also present during the incident, decided yesterday to resign from his position.
Referring to the court's decision to keep the measure of restraint on Manvel Grigoryan unchanged and his health, David Tonoyan expressed, “I have general concerns regarding my comrade’s condition. The current status of General Manvel Grigoryan is very concerning personally for me and for all defenders of the country.”
It is confirmed that Manvel Grigoryan will continue to remain in custody. The court rejected the defense's request to release Grigoryan on bail, citing that their arguments were unfounded.
