VIDEO. The Sky Turns Red in Indonesia Due to Fires
Every year, forests burn in Indonesia during the dry season, but it is the first time the sky has turned red. According to Reuters, the air quality has worsened to a dangerous level for people.
Authorities have urged pregnant women and children to stay indoors. Tens of thousands have begun to suffer from severe respiratory illnesses. Some flights have been canceled, and schools have been closed. An emergency has been declared in Indonesia's Riau province due to air pollution.
The smoke from the forest fires has reached neighboring Malaysia and Singapore.
