Assistant to Vayots Dzor Governor Arrested in Case of Assaulting Lieutenant Colonel
The assistant to the Vayots Dzor governor, Harutyun Grigoryan, who is suspected of beating Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan, has been arrested. This was announced on her Facebook page by the head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, Naira Harutyunyan.
“In connection with the criminal case initiated regarding the incident in Vayots Dzor, Harutyun Grigoryan has been charged with deliberately causing serious bodily harm to an individual. His arrest has been chosen as the measure of restraint,” she wrote.
It is noteworthy that the incident occurred on September 17 at around 23:40 in the yard of one of the buildings in Yeghegnadzor city. A brawl took place involving Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkrtchyan and Harutyun Grigoryan, with information suggesting that the governor also participated. The preliminary investigation revealed that, in addition to the lieutenant colonel, two other officers from the same unit sustained injuries during the altercation.
