Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharian Will Return Every Penny of the Looted Funds: Pashinyan
The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, comes from a family that is professionally corrupt, and everyone must return what they have stolen. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting with reporters in Los Angeles.
“Serzh Sargsyan’s son-in-law, Mikael Minasian, and Sargsyan's brother, Levon Sargsyan, must return every penny of state funds. Criminal cases have been initiated, and soon you will see who did what. And how did Robert Kocharian accumulate millions? Did they earn their millions through honest labor?” he said.
According to him, there is a significant danger that the palaces they built and the millions they collected will be lost quickly. In any case, according to the Prime Minister, there is hope that this will indeed happen.
Pashinyan noted that Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharian do not understand that they have no chance to engage in political activities in Armenia. And not because Pashinyan himself does not want that, but because the Armenian people will not allow it.
“They have no political prospects in Armenia. Anyone who thinks otherwise simply does not know the Armenian people. I have said it and I will say it again: they will return the money taken from the state down to the last penny. There will be no compromise on this issue. If only they had accumulated money before 1998, they could have ruled like kings. Are they Wunderkinds? Why are they not using those millions now? Are we hindering them? If we are hindering them, let them work abroad,” he said.
It should be noted that during Pashinyan's press conference in Armenia on September 16, he mentioned that Serzh Sargsyan's son-in-law, the former Ambassador of Armenia to the Vatican Mikael Minasian, will soon be implicated in a criminal case. Levon Sargsyan, the former President Serzh Sargsyan's brother, has been charged with visible abuses during the construction of the North-South road. He is accused of violating two articles of the criminal code: article 190 (legalizing proceeds from criminal activities - money laundering) and article 311, part 2, clause 4 (using actual or presumed influence for selfish purposes). A search warrant has been issued against him.
A criminal case was initiated against Serzh Sargsyan's nephew, Narek Sargsyan, on June 26, 2018, for illegal acquisition, trafficking, possession, transportation, or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosive substances, or explosive devices, as well as for illegal circulation or preparation for illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychoactive substances and their precursors.
