Manuk Poghosyan, Notorious for Receiving Bribes, Appointed Acting Director of 'Kosh' Prison
Recently, the head of 'Kosh' penitentiary institution, Lyova Baghdasaryan, was arrested by the National Security Service on charges of receiving bribes, and he is now being replaced by an acting director. According to Tert.am, Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan has appointed Manuk Poghosyan to replace Lyova Baghdasaryan, who is notorious for a story involving receiving a bribe of sportswear from a prisoner.
It is recalled that in 2015, Manuk Poghosyan held the position of head of 'Vardashen' prison, where he had requested sportswear from Arthur Kananian, a convict serving a sentence at the same facility. This was revealed through the analysis of phone conversations between the convict and his brother. Arthur Kananian reportedly informed his brother that he was instructed to give a bribe of 30,000 drams, referred to as a “spartsivka,” to the head of 'Vardashen' prison, which was indeed done.
