What Did Lebanon's Defense Minister and Nikol Pashinyan Discuss

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, today received the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Lebanon, Elias Bou Saab. Pashinyan welcomed the visit of the Lebanese Defense Minister to our country and, recalling his trip to Lebanon in the autumn of 2018 and the meetings with the country’s high leadership, noted that high-level official reciprocal visits contribute to the deepening of bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the Prime Minister's press service.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the two peoples are connected by centuries-old friendship, that there is a vibrant Armenian community in Lebanon, and that high-level political dialogue exists between the two countries. Armenia values the continuous strengthening of relations with Lebanon in political, economic, military, cultural, humanitarian, and other spheres.

Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Elias Bou Saab stated that it is a great honor to be in Armenia and to discuss prospects for deepening cooperation with Armenian partners. He noted that Armenia and Lebanon have great potential for developing cooperation in defense, economic, cultural, tourism, and other areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of defense, sharing experiences, and implementing joint projects, as well as addressing international and regional security challenges.

The Prime Minister touched on the goals of Armenia's humanitarian mission in Syria and the participation of Armenian peacekeepers in the UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon, emphasizing that Armenia values the establishment of peace and stability in the region. The Lebanese Minister of National Defense welcomed Armenia's humanitarian efforts in Syria and expressed gratitude for the participation of the Armenian peacekeeping contingent in the UNIFIL mission in southern Lebanon.
