Video: Several People Drowned Due to Flooding in Texas, 1000 Evacuated
The tropical storm Imelda that hit Texas has claimed the lives of two individuals, reports The Guardian. A 19-year-old man drowned and was electrocuted while trying to save his horse from the floodwaters. Another man, aged between 40-50, drowned while attempting to drive a minivan through 2.5 meters of water near Bush Airport in Houston.
Search and rescue operations are currently underway in the affected areas. Almost a thousand people have been rescued and evacuated to shelters. Over 900 flights have been canceled or delayed in Houston. An emergency has been declared in Texas.
