«The Law», Perhaps Unwritten, but It Is a 'Sacred' Law – Suren Sahakyan
Member of the 'Citizen's Decision' party, Suren Sahakyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "After the Prime Minister's first live stream on August 19 about the potential exploitation of Amulsar, the price of 'Lydian' shares rose to 18 Canadian cents. On August 7, the price was 9 cents. I believe this is a normal reaction to the change in the situation.
After the Prime Minister's second live stream on September 9, where it became clearer that the government, despite environmental risks, is inclined to exploit the mine, the share price dropped from 12 cents to 10 cents. In my opinion, this is also a normal reaction, although previous logic suggested that the prices of securities should have risen.
If a government gives a damn about the rights of its citizens, then, according to necessity, it will also disregard any foreign investors. This is logical, as all governments exist to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens. This one 'law', perhaps unwritten, but it is a 'sacred' law. If this law is violated, there is no guarantee that others will not be violated as well. And international business reacts adequately to this.
From this, one can conclude that the business attractiveness of the Republic of Armenia will suffer not from the suspension of mining operations but from making an unrealistic decision on exploitation."
