Tensions Rise in Some Schools of Vayots Dzor Province, Ministry of Education Concerned

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia has addressed the recent school strikes and protests against the operation of the Amulsar mine by students from Gndevaz and other neighboring communities in Jermuk.

In a statement published on the Ministry's Facebook page, it is noted: “The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports considers the attempts to escalate the situation in some schools of Vayots Dzor province as concerning.

Our students have already proven that they possess sufficient will and capabilities to defend their rights and fight for them. Taking this into account, we call upon all adults to refrain from exploiting children's emotions and artificially influencing their decision-making.

Our goal is to form independent and educated citizens, and it is desirable that all our actions be directed towards serving this idea without undermining its value.

At the same time, we emphasize that all recorded concerns will be studied by us, and appropriate evaluations will be provided; if necessary, measures will be taken.
