18-Year-Old Girl Dies from Anesthesia in Georgia
An 18-year-old girl has died after undergoing anesthesia at a central hospital in Rustavi, located 36 km from Tbilisi, while preparing for surgery on her nasal septum.
The girl's relatives have blamed the doctors for her death, stating that she suffered cardiac arrest following the administration of the anesthetic. They claim that prior to the injection, a test was conducted on her hand, which resulted in her skin becoming red. According to them, no attention was paid to this reaction and she was transferred to the operating room.
The girl's fiancé reported that she had arrived at the hospital in good spirits, joking with the medical staff about whether she would be fine after the surgery. They reassured her that the procedure was not complicated.
He added that after the news of the cardiac arrest circulated in the hospital, he never suspected it would involve his fiancé.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident.
