Flood in Khabarovsk Causes 1 Billion Rubles in Damage

In the Khabarovsk region of the Russian Federation, flooding has reportedly caused damage amounting to 990 million rubles according to preliminary data, as reported by РИА Новости, citing a statement from the regional government.

“The extent of the damage caused by the flood to the region's population and infrastructure is estimated at 990 million rubles based on preliminary data. The head of the region has appealed to the Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, requesting financial assistance for the Khabarovsk region,” the statement noted.

It was mentioned that the flood wave has affected 93 settlements in the region. A total of 670 residential houses have been impacted, with over 2,000 residents affected. The situation in Khabarovsk is currently stabilizing; however, in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the situation remains tense. There, the water level is 1.5 meters above the danger threshold level.

Additionally, 440 residential houses are still submerged. A state of emergency has been declared in the Khabarovsk region due to the flooding.
