Rohani Will Not Meet Trump at UN General Assembly

The President of Iran, Hassan Rohani, does not plan to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump during the UN General Assembly. This was reported by the official representative of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Abbas Mousavi, on September 16, according to Armenpress.

"I cannot confirm that information," Mousavi stated in response to a question regarding a possible meeting between Rohani and Trump. The Foreign Ministry representative's remarks were broadcast on the Press TV channel.

On September 15, the U.S. President deemed it inaccurate to say that he was prepared to meet with Iranian leadership without any preconditions. He made this statement via his Twitter page.

"Fake media are saying that I am ready to meet with Iran 'without preconditions.' That is not true (as always)," he declared.

Last week, the U.S. President had considered the possibility of a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rohani at the end of September during the broader political discussions at the UN General Assembly. On September 10, U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced that Trump was ready to meet with Iranian leadership without preconditions, while still advocating for maximum pressure on Tehran.

Meanwhile, the President's advisor, Kellyanne Conway, stated during an appearance on Fox News that a meeting between President Donald Trump and Iranian counterpart Hassan Rohani is still not ruled out, despite the incident involving drone attacks on Saudi Arabian oil facilities, as reported by TASS.
