Explosion Occurs at Oil Refinery in Italy

A strong explosion has occurred at the Eni oil refinery in San Doraso de Burgondi, northeast Italy. According to ANSA agency on September 17, a tall plume of smoke can be seen several kilometers away from the site of the incident.

According to local authorities, there have been no injuries reported. Firefighting units are currently on-site. Eni is conducting its inspections and assures that the situation is under control. Special services have already begun monitoring atmospheric indicators in the area of the incident. The causes of the explosion are being investigated, TASS reported.
