VIDEO: Aram Harutyunyan Detained
They want to close in on Kocharian, Seyran Ohanyan, Khachaturov, everyone, that’s why today we should not look back; I will personally drag Nikol and the zombies of Levon away, the police are used today as a scapegoat. This was stated by Aram Harutyunyan, the president of the ‘National Accord’ party, during a conversation with journalists after the court session regarding Kocharian and others at the Shengavit sitting of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction.
It is notable that following the session, the atmosphere was tense in the court yard, where the police detained supporters of Kocharian, including Aram Harutyunyan. One citizen also felt unwell and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Harutyunyan mentioned that there was an incident with a woman who insulted him, calling him a Turk and cursing his child: “Today, it’s Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s fight against Robert Kocharian. Today, those who were giving up land have come to the forefront. That woman called me a Turk, and I hit her – the BTRs of the HHSh are the supporters of Nikol and Levon,” Harutyunyan explained to journalists as police were escorting him to the vehicle.
Recall that during the court session at the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction (Shengavit sitting), the defense team of the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian requested to lift the measure of restraint against the president. Lawyers Aram Orbelyan and Aram Vardevanyan, referencing the decision of the Constitutional Court issued on September 4 of this year, emphasized that Kocharian's detention is unfounded.
It is also worth noting that on September 7, Kocharian’s legal team petitioned for the immediate lifting of the measure of restraint and to halt the criminal prosecution against him. Months ago, the defense had also submitted a petition regarding the application of a bail, which still remains unaddressed.
