Japan Forms New Government Cabinet
A new government cabinet has been formed in Japan, according to ria.ru, referencing a statement by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga. Only two political figures have retained their positions: Chief Secretary Yoshihide Suga and Finance Minister Taro Aso.
Foreign Minister Taro Kono has become the Minister of Defense, while the position he vacated has been filled by the current Minister for Economic Revitalization, Toshimitsu Motegi. Two individuals who previously held ministerial positions in earlier cabinets have also received appointments in the government: Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Katsunobu Kato and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sanae Takaichi.
The son of former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, 38-year-old Shinjiro, has become the youngest politician in the post-war history of the country to be included in the cabinet. According to forecasts, he may aspire to the position of Prime Minister in the future.
Additionally, outside the cabinet, the position of Secretary General of the National Security Council has been filled by Shigeru Kitamura. The average age of the new cabinet is 61.5 years.
On Wednesday evening, the new government will undergo a ceremony for confirmation by the Emperor of the country, after which the government will be considered officially formed.
It was previously reported that the Japanese government had resigned in full on Wednesday morning. The reason, according to reports, was a planned change in the cabinet structure following the party's victory in the upper house elections in July and the increase in the consumption tax to 10 percent in October.
