52 Attempts to Violate Armenia's State Border Prevented by NSS

During the first half of 2019, the border troops of the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia prevented 52 attempts to violate the state border, involving 78 individuals. Additionally, 42 cases of border regime violations (involving 84 persons), 2 cases of state border regime violations (involving 3 individuals), and 4 cases of violations at border crossing points (involving 5 individuals) were uncovered. This was reported by the NSS press center.

During the specified period, 1005 individuals wanted by law enforcement were identified at the border crossing points and handed over to the relevant units of the Police of Armenia. As a result of consistent efforts and the strengthening of necessary oversight, disciplinary violations and recorded incidents in the NSS border troops decreased by 59% in the first half of 2019.

In the reporting period, 230 border guards were encouraged, while 37 servicemen were subjected to disciplinary sanctions. Active personnel work has been carried out in the border troops during the first half of 2019, resulting in a 35% increase in the number of citizens joining military service in the border troops compared to the same period last year, and a 5% increase compared to the entire previous year.
