Strong Tremors Recently Occurred in Shirak Province
On September 10, at 20:22 local time (16:22 GMT), a magnitude 4.8 earthquake was recorded by the seismic protection service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations at geographical coordinates 41.080 north latitude and 43.940 east longitude (13 km northeast of Bavra village on the Armenia-Georgia border), at a depth of 10 km.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that the intensity of the tremors in the epicentral area reached 6-7 on the Richter scale. Preliminary data indicate that the earthquake was felt in the Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Aragatsotn, and Armavir provinces of Armenia, as well as in the city of Yerevan.
