The mental serenity of a public official should be more peaceful, and honesty must be unwavering. This was stated by Armen Muradyan, rector of Yerevan State Medical University and former health minister, during a conversation with factor.am, in response to Health Minister Arsen Torosyan's claims that oncologist Gevorg Tamamyan has acted against him under the guidance of Armen Muradyan.

“Gevorg Tamamyan is a bright, honest, liberal, exceptional physician. He has his own formed opinion and cannot manifest it in a way that shapes his views based on those of a friend or mentor. It is unnecessary to insult everyone collectively; one should listen to criticism adequately,” said Armen Muradyan.

When asked why the minister associates Gevorg Tamamyan and himself, Armen Muradyan mentioned that the oncologist is his friend and teaches at the medical university. “Recent events indicate a strong objection to cynicism in medicine,” noted the rector.

It should be recalled that Health Minister Arsen Torosyan stated during a Facebook live that Armen Muradyan sees dangers in losing his position, which has led to actions being taken through Gevorg Tamamyan. In response to this statement, Armen Muradyan said, “I have never been attached to any position. If a public discussion is taking place about what is happening between Mr. Torosyan and me, I can announce live: a discussion about this center occurred a year ago, and there was an unacceptable phrase. Mr. Minister stated, ‘Fifty people have been disabled, and fifty more are going to die disabled. Why are you spending so much money?’ After that, our conversation was interrupted. I do not believe that cynicism, dishonesty, and inadequate criticism can find a place in the healthcare system.”

In response to whether Arsen Torosyan expressed such views regarding individuals receiving treatment at the Homeland Defender’s Rehabilitation Center, Armen Muradyan did not give a direct answer. It should be noted that today a press conference by Health Minister Arsen Torosyan was scheduled at the blood transfusion center named after Professor Yolyan, which, however, was disrupted. The reason was that hematologist Gevorg Tamamyan, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the ‘City of Smiles’ Foundation, attempted to ask questions on behalf of the journalists to the minister. This led to Torosyan leaving the press conference room. Later, the minister announced via Facebook that Gevorg Tamamyan’s actions were organized by Armen Muradyan.
