Imported Measles Case Registered in Armenia

An imported case of laboratory-confirmed measles has been reported in Armenia today. The patient arrived from Ukraine on August 31. Clinical symptoms emerged on September 3, including a fever and weakness, followed by a rash on the facial area starting on September 6. The patient sought treatment at the 'Nork' Infectious Clinical Hospital and was diagnosed with measles. Currently, the patient is experiencing conjunctivitis, cough, throat redness, and general weakness.

This information has been provided by the Ministry of Health. The situation regarding measles in Armenia is stable; however, this marks the fifth laboratory-confirmed imported case recorded since the beginning of the year. Epidemiologically, three of these cases are linked to Ukraine, and two to Georgia.

It is important to note that measles is an acute viral and highly contagious disease characterized by pronounced intoxication, catarrhal, and rash phenomena. The infection is transmitted through airborne droplets.
