Vitaly Balasanyan Summoned for Questioning by the Special Investigation Service
According to reports, former Secretary of the National Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan was summoned today by Armenia's Special Investigation Service for questioning regarding the March 1 case. He has the status of a witness in the case. However, the questioning did not take place as he had not been properly notified.
Sources indicate that the Special Investigation Service has not sent a new notification to Balasanyan. Marina Ohanyan, the press secretary of the Special Investigation Service, did not comment on the information regarding Balasanyan being summoned for questioning.
It is reported that Balasanyan was summoned in connection with statements he made during one of his interviews days ago. He notably stated, "Show me a case where the army fired. There are talks that generals came and gave orders; generals fired; they separated 60 people… What does it mean they fired at the people? It was Levon Ter-Petrosyan and his group who fired at the people. The time will come, I am also aware of the events of March 1, I have information about what happened. We must give an assessment of this phenomenon immediately, and Robert Kocharyan should be free."
