Zahakrova Comments on Pashinyan's Statement 'Artsakh is Armenia'
Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented on Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement that 'Artsakh is Armenia' during a press briefing in Moscow at the request of an Azerbaijani journalist.
We proceed from the fact that, undoubtedly, there is internal rhetoric, internal regulations that reflect the views of political movements and parties, considering that we are talking about a democratic state. And there is this peace process where there are participants in the process and international efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution. Undoubtedly, we proceed from the fact that the statements of the parties should fit into the overall context of universal efforts aimed at peaceful resolution,” Zakharova said.
According to her, after such statements, it becomes very difficult to return to previous positions in the negotiation process. “Unfortunately, we have heard similar statements at various levels, from different sides. We would greatly like all parties to approach the main issue — a prompt resolution of peaceful settlement,” said Zakharova.
