Armen Muradyan is Lying: Torosyans Denies Claims

Armen Muradyan is lying: this was stated today by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Arsen Torosyan, after an event organized on the occasion of the Day of the Ministry of Emergency Situations during a conversation with journalists.

It is worth noting that yesterday, the rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan, claimed that a year ago, there was a discussion related to the Rehabilitation Center for Homeland Defenders, during which an unacceptable phrase was uttered by Arsen Torosyan: “The minister stated that ‘50 people were disabled, and 50 more will become disabled, why did you spend so much money?’”

When asked if he would sue for defamation, Torosyan replied, “If we dealt with all defamations, we wouldn’t occupy ourselves with anything else.”

Regarding whom he was referring to when saying that families were behind this campaign, for example, Serj Sargsyan’s son-in-law, Torosyan answered, “Also.”

Commenting on the purpose of Mikayel Minasyan to initiate a campaign against him, Torosyan said, “What purpose did he have a year ago when he did the same thing? This has been discussed a lot; you are asking trivial questions.”

Addressing the question of whether the revelations he made in the healthcare sector are the reason, which also relates to Minasyan’s father, Torosyan stated, “Also, they personally take all this very personally.”

It should be noted that yesterday, Minister Torosyan summoned a press conference, attended by pediatric oncologist and hematologist Gevorg Tamamyan, who stated that he had questions for the minister. By the way, Tamamyan recently resigned from the Ministry's advisory position in oncology. Torosyan interrupted the press conference and left, but later asked for journalists' forgiveness via a Facebook live broadcast and made a sensational statement. He expressed his belief that behind Gevorg Tamamyan’s actions was the rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan, who was concerned during the changes in the university council that his position might be under threat.

Muradyan’s response was swift and forceful. He first declared that no position could be deemed above his dignity and that Tamamyan was not the person who could lack an opinion. He then mentioned, “If an open discussion is held regarding what happened between me and Mr. Torosyan, I can clearly state that approximately a year ago, there was a discussion related to this center (Military House), during which an unacceptable phrase was uttered: ‘Fifty people were disabled,’ said the minister, ‘and fifty will become disabled. Why did you spend so much money?’ After which our conversation was interrupted, and we cannot have any common ground whatsoever. I do not think that cynicism, lying, and inadequate criticism have a place in the healthcare sector.”
