VIDEO: Abuses. Manager of Ijevan Cooperative Received 6 Million Drams

The National Security Service received operational information that the manager of Ijevan cooperatives had committed abuses. According to reports from the police, during the preparation of the materials, factual data was obtained through joint operational-search measures by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Unit and the Tavush regional departments and Ijevan division.

It has been determined that the manager of the Ijevan cooperative, according to preliminary data, used his managerial and other powers against the interests of the organization and for the benefit of other individuals. Specifically, in 2013, a formal donation agreement was signed between the cooperative and a resident, under which the cooperative, represented by the manager, donated a semi-basement area of 349 square meters located in Ijevan to the manager’s ward.

Subsequently, the manager, driven by personal interest, divided the specified area into two and sold one of the separated parts for 2 million drams to another resident of Ijevan.

It was also revealed that a female resident of Ijevan, not being an employee of the cooperative, had, with the knowledge and permission of the cooperative’s manager, represented herself to residents as an employee of the cooperative and was engaged in collecting funds paid by the population to the cooperative.

From 2017 to 2019, around 7.5 million drams were collected, of which nearly 6 million drams were handed over in cash to the cooperative's manager. He, according to preliminary data, stole the money through embezzlement instead of depositing it into the cooperative's account.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the facts. An investigation is underway.
