We Will Move Beyond the Real Calculation of Economic Viability: Pashinyan
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, addressed Defense Minister David Tonoyan during a government meeting, discussing a recent meeting with representatives from the defense industry.
“We have reached an agreement with them that we will quickly inventory the products produced in Armenia by the defense industry and also draft a preliminary demand plan for the armed forces for the next five years. We will work in two directions with the sector – the government will set the goal of acquisitions from local producers, provided that local manufacturers demonstrate specific actions and a roadmap aimed at increasing their efficiency and reducing costs,” he said.
Pashinyan noted that this should be a bilateral process, where both the government and the producers must prove their strategies for increasing efficiency and operating within the framework of innovations. The Prime Minister also informed that there were proposals regarding the formulas for calculating economic profitability discussed during the meeting.
“We will step beyond the real calculation of economic viability, and I believe it is evident that there can be no compromise when it comes to quality, and this was not even a topic open for discussion. We articulate this as an instruction. There should be reports every month on where we stand with the implementation of this directive,” the Prime Minister added.
