State-Funded Surgeries for Children in Armenia
In Armenia, starting now, hospital medical assistance and services for children under 18 will be fully implemented within the framework of state funding. Previously, hospital treatment was available only for children up to 7 years old, but according to a decision by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, it will now be accessible to those up to 18 years old. This is reported by the newspaper "Hayastani Hanrapetutyun."
Which specific surgeries are included in the list of free medical assistance, what procedures does the free medical service entail, and how ready is the healthcare system for a seamless transition to implementing healthcare services earmarked for certain age thresholds? The relevant authorities provided clarification on these matters.
According to Nune Pashaian, the acting head of the Ministry of Health's Mother and Child Department, hospital treatment pertains to cases where the child is hospitalized and under continuous supervision. Almost all surgical interventions have become free, including those carried out using the latest expensive technologies.
