Opposition Holds Unauthorized March in Moscow, Arrests Occur
In Moscow, an unauthorized march against "political repression" is taking place, according to meduza.io. The march started from Chistye Prudy and is heading towards Pushkin Square.
It has been noted that the city administration prohibited the protest in central Moscow by rejecting all applications and failing to propose an alternative venue. The prosecution has also warned opposition members about the illegality of conducting the march.
The march began at 15:00 Yerevan time. Reports indicate that two activists were arrested two hours prior for hanging a banner that read, "Freedom to Assemble Anytime and Anywhere." Protests demanding free elections for Moscow's city duma have been taking place since July 14. Participants, in particular, are calling for the registration of independent candidates in the Moscow city duma elections. As previous rallies have been unauthorized, they have been accompanied by clashes with law enforcement.
