Video: Wall of Reconstructed Building Collapses in Novosibirsk, Workers Trapped Beneath Rubble
A wall of a reconstructed two-story building collapsed in Novosibirsk, Russia, trapping several individuals under the rubble, as reported by INTERFAX.RU, citing a representative of the regional emergency services.
Initial reports indicate that one worker has died, while another has been hospitalized in serious condition. Local authorities have confirmed that two additional individuals remain trapped under the debris. The exact number of those rescued from the rubble has not been disclosed.
The Siberian construction company responsible for the project stated that there were a total of eight workers on site at the time, with three managing to escape the incident.
The collapse occurred at approximately 12:20 PM local time. In addition to the wall, parts of the roof also fell. According to investigators, the collapse happened during pipe renovation work.
A total of 70 rescuers and 20 units of equipment are working at the scene. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the violation of safety regulations.
