Opinions on Amulsar Issue Exist, No Developments: Sophia Hovsepyan
Member of the National Assembly's 'My Step' faction, Sophia Hovsepyan, addressed the topics discussed during the faction's meeting that lasted more than three hours. She mentioned that there was a focus on the work of committees before and after the session.
Journalists inquired whether there was a discussion about Amulsar. Hovsepyan responded that there were opinions on the Amulsar issue, but no developments. 'We remain in the approach that we should wait for the government's actions at this moment,' she said, noting that there had been episodic discussions.
Hovsepyan stated that there is no disagreement within the party on this issue, but there are differing views: some believe the Amulsar mine should be exploited, while others believe it should not.
When asked how many people are in favor, she replied, 'Even three people count as a part, if that’s what you are asking. To be honest, I can't provide a number as I haven't prioritized it, and they have also spoken publicly.'
On the question of whether she would stand alongside activists regarding Amulsar and if she would resign her mandate as promised, the deputy said, 'I never insisted that I would resign for that reason; please clarify my words. If the need arises to stand between activists and police, I will be one of the first to do so, but there is no talk of resigning my mandate.'
