Details on the Murder of Local Authority in Shengavit: One Person Arrested
The investigative department of the Shengavit administrative district of the Yerevan Investigative Committee has clarified several circumstances of the incident that occurred near a restaurant complex in Shengavit on August 25, as a result of urgent investigative and procedural actions, one person has been arrested. This was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
On August 25, 2019, at 18:50, the Shengavit police department received a call from the Erebuni Medical Center regarding two residents of Yerevan, born in 1976 and 1960, who had been admitted to the medical center with a gunshot wound to the left side of the abdominal wall (clinical death) and gunshot wounds to the left thigh, and the lower third of the right femur with a comminuted fracture.
A criminal case has been initiated in relation to the incident under Articles 34-104, part 2, points 2 and 6, and Article 235, part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. By the decision of the head of the Shengavit investigative department, an investigative group has been formed.
Numerous investigative actions have been carried out regarding the criminal case. During the examination of the crime scene, 8 cartridges fired from a Makarov-type pistol, 1 previously fired 7.62mm caliber cartridge, 1 revolver without a factory number, 1 fired cartridge from a revolver, 2 bullets fired from a Makarov-type pistol, and 2 folding knives with secret locks were seized.
Also confiscated were video recordings from surveillance cameras located in the vicinity of the crime scene and the clothing worn by the victims at the time of the incident. Several examinations have been appointed.
As a result of the investigative actions and operational-search activities carried out regarding the criminal case, the identity of the person suspected of committing the crime has been established; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1975. The individual has been arrested. The pre-trial investigation continues.
