Amulsar is the litmus test that will help us recognize many: 'Amulsar' initiative
The 'Amulsar' initiative has posted a comment on their Facebook page, addressing some observations made during Colonel Yura Ivanyan's press conference, who is the head of the investigation team on the Amulsar case. We present the full post below:
“Just hours ago, Colonel Ivanyan, who is responsible as the head of the investigation team for the Amulsar case, held a press conference.
- Ivanyan noted that the examination of documents has been carried out and compared it to accounting, stating that, for instance, when there is an accounting error, experts check the calculations done and find the mistakes, rather than performing new calculations. Now, the question arises for us: if the expert is not conducting fieldwork and is only relying on documents, how will they discover animals or plants not mentioned in previous documents that theoretically may exist in the area?
- We are told that, dear people, what can we do, the permit was granted during the previous administration; we must adapt. This raises the question: if we are approaching the previous administration with suspicion, then why is no case being opened regarding Amulsar, which would hold accountable all those who were involved in suspicious activities on this issue during the previous government? Or is everything ideal?
- And a slight political observation. Nikol Pashinyan visits Jermuk, where he is greeted by a large crowd in the square demanding to halt the mining operations, to which he responds with the same thoughts: 'But what if it is proven completely harmless, etc.' Then he returns to Yerevan, and the next day a large march dedicated to the protection of Amulsar takes place, which approximately 2000 people attend. The people in the square demand a response from the Prime Minister, but two days later, the people who were left without a response receive Colonel Ivanyan’s press conference, where he tries to show that the mine can be operated.
We leave the conclusions to you... In any case, be prepared to be more persistent and demanding. Amulsar is the litmus test that will help us recognize many. Amulsar will remain a mountain; we will hold it until the end.”
