On August 22, an extraordinary incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 11:00 PM, the Armenia Medical Center notified the police department in Davitashen that three people had been transported to them with bodily injuries. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, an operational group from the Mashtots police department, led by Deputy Chief Eranosyan, and an operational group from the Davitashen police department, led by Chief Yenokyan, rushed to the hospital.
A group from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, responsible for the Ajapnyak and Davitashen administrative districts, also arrived under the leadership of Investigator Khachatryan. Police and investigators established that the injured included 23-year-old Rafik Tadevosyan, a resident of the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan, diagnosed with a "stab wound to the right side of the chest"; 25-year-old Davit Tovmasyan, a resident of the Kotayk region, admitted with a "stab wound to the left side of the chest"; and 24-year-old Hakob Gevorgyan, also from Yerevan, diagnosed with a "stab wound to the left scapula".
While doctors were providing aid to the injured, personnel from the criminal investigation department of the Yerevan police, as well as the Mashtots and Davitashen departments, managed to ascertain that a conflict had taken place at around 10:30 PM that same day near the Ara's Fortress restaurant complex in the 4th district of Davitashen, involving a 30-year-old employee of that restaurant, Arkadi Amirgulyan. During this altercation, Amirgulyan reportedly struck the victims with a knife he had on him.
Throughout the hours that followed, police and investigators located A. Amirgulyan, who was taken into custody at the Mashtots police department. According to G. Shamshyan's reports, both Amirgulyan and all the injured parties worked as servers at the Ara's Fortress restaurant complex. A. Amirgulyan has been arrested on the investigator's orders.
