Over 1 Million Complaints Received by Police in 7 Months

Trust in the police has increased among the public, as evidenced not only by police studies and statistics but also by sociological surveys. This growth in confidence is mainly attributed to several factors, one of which is the initiatives aimed at strengthening the police-community relationship.

The Chief of the Police of Armenia holds monthly receptions where citizens can voice their complaints, issues, and suggestions. Many of the raised concerns are often addressed on the spot, as the police chief communicates directly with the heads of various divisions, providing specific instructions and directives. Other issues are resolved after the applications are reviewed.

The head of the police chief's office has conducted meetings with residents across all regions of the republic. These meetings also involve the leadership of the regional police department and heads of territorial divisions. Although the issues raised by citizens are not always directly related to police functions, territorial division leaders are instructed to assist citizens in obtaining positive solutions to their concerns.

Officers from territorial divisions hold neighborhood meetings with residents, where they listen to complaints and suggestions. The discussions also cover topics such as preventing becoming targets of crime, securing property, and cooperating with the police.

There is much to say about the initiatives aimed at strengthening the police-community relationship. Let's consider the numbers: from January to July of this year, the Police of Armenia received a total of 1,108,710 complaints, compared to 978,174 during the same period last year. Out of these complaints, 1,025,576 received positive resolutions, which is a 13% increase compared to the same period last year.
