Details of the Murder of Andranik Harutyunyan from Masis

The police have uncovered the details surrounding the murder of Andranik Harutyunyan. Following the interests of the preliminary investigation, only facts that do not impede the investigation have been published.

On the night of July 2, around 11:10 PM, the police department of Nor Nork received a call from a hospital that the body of 46-year-old Andranik Harutyunyan had been brought in with a firearm injury. Operational groups from various police units recorded that the man had been transported from the 5th massif of Nor Nork. Soon, the crime scene was also identified. The murder had occurred in the yard of building 17 on Mikoyan Street.

Necessary investigative measures were carried out on-site to clarify a number of circumstances surrounding the incident. Shell casings from a firearm, a bullet, bloodstains, and a sports bag, which based on preliminary data belonged to the perpetrator, were discovered.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the murder. Comprehensive operational investigative measures have been undertaken to uncover the crime. Security footage revealed a young man approaching a group of people in a yard with a firearm and opening fire on them.

Through operational investigative measures, the route taken by the suspect to the scene and the direction he fled after the shooting was determined. Collaborative efforts from several police units led to the identification of the suspect, a 32-year-old citizen of the Russian Federation. It was also revealed that there was an accomplice to the murder, who is a 50-year-old citizen of Yerevan, temporarily residing in Russia.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had been in Armenia for a week in May of this year. During that time, the suspected accomplice was also in Armenia, and they had met several times. Afterward, they returned to Russia with a one-day difference. In June, they again came to Armenia on different days, and days later, the murder occurred, after which both left Armenia within hours.

In connection with the uncovering of the crime, an operational group from the main department of criminal investigation has gone to Russia to cooperate with Russian counterparts. On August 20, the suspected accomplice returned to Armenia and was found, detained, and arrested the following day.

Measures continue to locate the person who committed the murder and the weapon used in the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
