NSS Discovers 2 Citizens Wanted for Execution of Terrorism

The National Security Service (NSS) of the Republic of Armenia has identified two citizens of India who were on the wanted list for committing terrorism, based on intelligence received from the Interpol national central bureau of the Armenian Police as part of its operations against crime and international terrorism.

Specifically, on August 8, 2019, these individuals arrived in Yerevan on a flight from Istanbul. Hours after receiving the international wanted notice from Interpol, NSS officers conducted operational-search measures leading to the discovery and apprehension of one of the mentioned Indian citizens. It was found that he was accused of committing several serious crimes (including terrorism and murders) under various articles of the Indian Criminal Code.

His companion, who is also wanted by Indian law enforcement for terrorism, murder, and other criminal offenses, was discovered and apprehended on August 14 while attempting to cross the Bagratashen border checkpoint.

Both Indian citizens have been detained.

Note: A person suspected of or charged with a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty according to the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, and a legally effective court verdict.
