Armenia is in Danger: Environmentalist Nazeli Vardanyan is 'in Shock Since Yesterday'
Environmentalist and lawyer Nazeli Vardanyan made a post on her Facebook page, stating that she has been "in shock since yesterday."
"Being a narrow specialist in Environmental Law, I have worked with all the leaders of Armenia, starting from K. Demirchyan. Regardless of what decision might be made in the future, there has never been a case where someone interrupted me or did not want to hear the opinion of an expert. In our country, scientists and specialists have always been respected. This includes the opinion of a specialist who is also a member of the Working Group created by the Prime Minister on this issue, and who provided a legal analysis back in September 2018, presenting a 33-page conclusion to the Prime Minister, which has not even been discussed until now. In that conclusion, I detailed the violations of the RA legislation and international conventions, along with all the corruption risks. Yesterday, the Prime Minister interrupted me three times, unwilling to listen or understand what I was saying, being completely ignorant about environmental and legal issues. This issue has been decided outside our country, the authorities are unable to resist and are trying to convince the people of something without any legal or professional justifications. This is very concerning. Armenia is in danger," Vardanyan wrote.
