The People Say No, Amulsar Should Not Be Exploited. There Is No Clearer Position Than This, Says Naira Zohrabyan

I represent the clear position of the Prosperous Armenia party: as long as the people say no, Amulsar will not be exploited, stated MP Naira Zohrabyan in a conversation with journalists, who had come to Baghramyan Avenue with Deputy Speaker Vahe Enfiajyan.

“We quickly had a discussion within our faction, and I am now presenting our faction’s stance. It is clear: the power in Armenia belongs to the people, and they must decide,” she noted.

In response to a citizen's observation about whether it would not have been better if the previous authorities had prevented activities in Amulsar, instead of showing that they are now on the side of the people, the MP replied, “I have come to present the recently made decision of Prosperous Armenia. One cannot arbitrarily make noise, insult, and recall previous years. I am saying now: the power belongs to the people, they will decide. And the people currently say, no, Amulsar should not be exploited. Is there a clearer position than this?”

Naira Zohrabyan reminded that the National Assembly park was opened for the public to have free access. She described the police actions that blocked access to the park as illegal. “When you opened the park, you said, 'Dear people, this is yours.' So, how is it that at this moment it is not theirs?”

It is noteworthy that today Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan convened a discussion regarding the exploitation of the Amulsar mine at 26 Baghramyan. Discontented environmentalists announced their intention to hold a public discussion in the National Assembly park, but the police formed a blockade and prevented citizens from entering the park.
