Incident Involving Vahagn Chakhalyan on Northern Avenue
An incident occurred on Northern Avenue on the evening of August 18 involving Vahagn Chakhalyan, the founder of the "Will" initiative. Vahagn Chakhalyan and several others were detained by the police and later released. According to media reports, a group of individuals attacked Chakhalyan.
In this regard, Vahagn Chakhalyan wrote on his Facebook page, stating: "The premediated attack against me last night must be urgently clarified and published by the Armenian security agencies. Nothing can affect our mission to protect Armenian values, whether in Yerevan or Gyumri, in cities or villages of Armenia; we feel at home, and our population has shown us this in recent weeks. We can punish both the provocateurs and those who send them, and we will do so if the law enforcement agencies of Armenia do not immediately fulfill their constitutional duties. For now, that’s all I can say. Dear people, today we will meet in Yerevan and Ashtarak, and tomorrow we will also be in Aparan. The Istanbul Convention will not be ratified, it will not be ratified, and that's final. Armenia is not for sale, and it will not be sold; the Armenian people will not be given the status of slaves."
The police reported that on August 18 at 23:50, officers of the Police Special Purpose Division brought four citizens to the police station on suspicion of assaulting each other on Northern Avenue, where it was determined that they had inflicted mutual harm. They refused to file a complaint. Forensic examinations have been appointed, and materials are being prepared.
