25 Smoking Hotspots Detected Near Arevik National Park, Ministry of Emergency Situations Reports
On August 14, at 18:00, information was received from Arevik National Park regarding smoking hotspots in the nearby forest along the Lehvaz-Vardanizor highway in Syunik Province.
Two firefighting units from the regional rescue administration of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were dispatched to the scene. The firefighting efforts involved two rescue units from the Special Rescue Operations Center, two operational groups from the regional rescue administration, and 10 firefighters from the regional firefighters' unit.
By 22:30, the firefighting operations were halted, with 10 firefighters and 10 employees of Arevik National Park maintaining duty at the site. At 06:30 the following day, firefighting efforts resumed, with 2 hectares of vegetation burned and approximately 25 smoking hotspots identified. The fire was contained by 13:10.
