New Apartments for Over 200 Soldiers

In 2019, the Ministry of Defense will hand over 9 residential buildings designated for officers. This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by Armen Avetisyan, the head of the capital construction and military housing department of the RA Ministry of Defense.

The construction has taken place not in Yerevan, but in the regions. The law extending the term of contract military service and age thresholds was adopted.

Each building will have an average of 30 apartments, meaning that more than 200 military families will receive new housing.

“In addition, we continue to allow servicemen to privatize their service apartments. However, this is only if the apartments are located in cities and not in military settlements,” Avetisyan explained.

Regarding the residential houses in military units and settlements, the ministry will be actively working this and next year on the renovation of these buildings, as well as the communications leading to them.

It is worth recalling that at the end of 2018, the RA government provided housing certificates to retired servicemen. About 1,200 military personnel received housing certificates worth 5 million drams.
