Protests by 'Yellow Vests' Start in Paris
In the French capital, a new gathering of supporters of the 'Yellow Vests' movement has commenced, as reported by RIA Novosti.
People have been gathering since morning near the 'Villiers' metro station in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, wearing yellow vests and various accessories of the same color. They have been sipping coffee at a nearby cafe and conversing with one another. The atmosphere was calm, with the silence of the crowd occasionally broken by participants' loud whistles and the chant, 'We are here, Emmanuel Macron.'
Enhanced police units have been deployed near the metro exits and surrounding streets, with their vehicles also parked nearby. Police have been selectively checking the contents of passersby’s bags.
A lengthy march is planned for today.
