Turkish Official Who Called for Expulsion of Armenians May Face Accountability

Discussions continue around the scandalous statement made by Suleyman Ozkarasal, the head of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the Başiskelesi district of Turkey, as reported by Ermenihaber.

Some time ago, he tweeted, "Let’s expel the 100,000 Armenians illegally living in Turkey, along with the Bulgarians who arrived in 1989 and the Salonika converts (referring to converted Jews). Do you agree?"

Ozkarasal has faced condemnation not only from numerous opposition figures but also from some of his party colleagues. It has been revealed that his statement is now under review by the party's disciplinary council. The initiative was taken by Mehmet Ellibash, the head of the provincial office of the AKP. The date for the meeting of the party's disciplinary council is currently unknown.
