Armenia's Ministry of Justice Requests Opinion from Venice Commission on Istanbul Convention
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has applied to the Venice Commission for an advisory opinion regarding the Istanbul Convention, announced Minister Rustam Badasyan.
“Taking into account the concerns raised about the Council of Europe’s Convention on ‘Preventing and Combating Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence', we have today approached the Venice Commission to obtain the Commission's official opinion on the impact of the ratification of the Convention from the perspective of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia. As soon as we receive the Commission's opinion, the Ministry of Justice will publish it,” the minister informed on his Facebook page.
